The Post with some random news links
People need to read the news stories often. There are some real doozies out there today

First this from Palm Bay, Florida

    http://www.local6.com/news/13754189/detail.html

How low class must you be to get banned from a Wal-Mart? Is there a hierarchy of people who steal items based off where they steal from...Like are the people who steal from Dollar General thinking too themselves like, "Wow this people tried Wal-Mart security."

    Then in Poland

    http://http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8QKD4NO0&show_article=1

So this guy decides that to win roughly 36,000 dollars he should rack up 34,000 dollars worth of text messages on a company phone. The best part is his monthly allowance is 5 dollars. So he only went 33,995 dollars over what he is allowed to spend. That is all kinds of hilarious. Even if he wins he would've only ended up with 2,000 dollars worth of stuff. Besides he should come to America where all he needs to know are the words to, "Invisible Touch" by Genesis and he can win that kind of money.

I love this country- and no that's not sarcasm or anything.

Paterson, New Jersey brings us this

    http://http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkzNTcmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTcxNzM5NjAmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkz

The best part of the story is they say there is no evidence the pool water was drank. Seriously- if you were spending time to steal a pool are you going to drink the water out of it. Would you just drink a strange families pool water without knowning what was in it?

And the main entree from Sherborn, MA

    http://http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/homepage/x1578449844

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

This guy was sneaking out of his house, not to meet a girl or try to find a girl and get real pussy- no he snuck out and broke into a barn to fuck sheep. Maybe its just me but times seem to have changed since I was 18.
The best part to me is- he is of age so his name will be all over the papers yet he feels he should cover his face leaving the courtroom because he doesn't want people to take his picture and shame him. Dude you fucked sheep- multiple times, and your name is everywhere- how could it possibly get worse.

You'd be better served just making a shirt that said "I had Mary's little lamb" or "Me and Ewe" and wear a big smile on your face and wave for the cameras. People already think you're a sick bastard- might as well embrace it.

The Post with me learning some parents
Did you see the story about the kids in Oregon who got arrested and face sex offender charges for smacking girls on the butt and boobs? Didn't make that up. Want proof http://http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/07/24/intv.boy.faces.jail.for.slap.cnn

    Told you so

So these kids think that this is a fun game- and a secret handshake of sorts- to smack girls on the butt or as documentated in the Oregon police report grab and squeeze girl's breasts.

Then the kids mom stands at the press conference and calls him a victim, and says he is being unfairly persecuted.

Then the husband adds "We'd all be in jail if everyone got arrested for this kind of stuff."--not really there champ.

Then the public defender says, "It's like criminalizing fairly typical behavior, and I don't think the schools inform or warn them."-----FUCK THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

For those that might not be sure- groping women, especially after they have asked you not to, is NOT fairly typical behvaior. Actually it is a crime and the kid is going to find that out.

And do schools really need to inform kids that this is not appropriate behavior. Isn't that something- I don't know- the paretns should teach- which brings us back to the real problem here.

Not that they'll read this but I'd like to say that the parents of the Little Molester there would be better served teaching the kid that when you do something wrong there are conseequences to your actions. You show contrition, and you damn sure don't set out on a media wave to try and paint yourself as the victim.

Seriously- fuck people like them- and becasue the little kid thinks this is a joke- fuck him too.

The Post with me Being Back
So after like a week I'm back on and blogging.

It was a great couple of days off last week.

Wednesday I did absolutely nothing and loved it. I went to the gym for a while, showered, got to eat dinner at 5:30 instead of 8:00- it was great.

Thursday I took my mom to her appointment and then we went to Target so she could buy me part of my birthday gift. I got an air mattress for in my Blazer so when I eventually get me a girlfriend we can go camping and just hand out there, or throw up a tent with the air mattress. See I'm a romantic at heart. After that I took her to lunch at Friendly's. FOr those wondering I had the Honey BBQ Supermelt- which was amazingly awesome.

Got home and took the dog out where he for the first time ever actually chased a bird and the bird didn't fly away- yes that means we had a bird homicide in the backyard. A young bird, that was able to fly but not very good yet at it...The momma bird watched as it happened. It was kind of sad but I was impressed with the dog.

Friday I went out golfing with a buddy that I've gotten to know through the fact that he married a friend of mine. That took up most of the afternoon. An afternoon that was well spent because I pulled out the win on the last hole .

Later that night I went to see I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry which was really funny.

Saturday I did more of nothing except some drinking at night, and Sunday I played softball and then came home and watched some tv before shuffling off to bed.

Yesterday I came into work and found out my company has been sold. From all the information we got it sounds like I'll be out of a job by the end of the year. Oh well- I started touching up the old resume last night so I'm prepared.

That was my week...all caught up.

    The Post with me celebrating
Not much to talk about today other than the fact that in 51 minutes I have three days off and don't have to go to work until Monday morning again. So much fun, and I've planned exactly nothing because I want to let things happen or just sit and drink some damn beer.

    Hopefully more the second one.

I've got some things to get done but they won't eat up much of my time.

So who knows if I'll update this week much anymore. I might, I might not.

For now in case though I'll leave you this link and say enjoy.

    The Post with some thoughts
Do you ever feel like you don't belong? Not in that you don't fit in with the crowd or anything like that but rather that you're in a situation where you're with someone but you're not really with them.

See it goes like this- people drift around in life until they drift back towards people. Some find their way back, some are pulled back, that last group is mostly pulled in but they're not anchored to the group in anyway.

If that's confusing- think of it like being at a party with a bunch of people and they tell 20 inside jokes that crack everyone up but you only laugh at 10 of them. What does that mean? Does that mean that you are just being a stick in the mud and wanting to move past old jokes, or does it mean that there are times when everyone in that group gets together outside of you and those come from there?

Hard to say- fact of life is this happens though. Not everyone is invited to every party. Some people have it worse though in reality, sometimes in their own perception.

This isn't necessarily one of those perception is reality things either. You make perception your reality- it doesn't exsist. It isn't that you are being excluded, but somewhere in your warped mind you think you are and instead of allowing yourself the joy of inclusion you go on the defensive and fell you are an outsider.

Some deal with all that in different ways. Some turn to drinking, but no matter how much you drink you can't drown away those feelings.

Some complain openly and consistently to everyone around in what is a thinly veiled disguise of sharing. In reality you're trying to guilt someone into remembering you exsist so they always think of you. It's trying to drag them down so they invtie you out of pity.

Some internalize it all. They smile in the face of overwhelming sadness and despair but becasue they feel this constant need to appear to be upbeat they are very cautious with the amount of information they share. They blow off things as no big deal when in actuality it is tearing them up inside.

Then there is the 4th group which finds some way to make an amalgam of the other 3. They don't really turn to one option in lieu of the others but work all 3 into a new super option.

None of the ways are healthy and the thing the person must realize is that they are looking for a change but they aren't seeking a change. See there are two kinds of people- those who look for the opening- they aren't adventurous- they are just traveling the path that was already created by someone else. Then there are others who make the opening. They walk up to a thicket and chop right through it.

Some of us are the seekers, some are the lookers- but all the lookers wish they were seekers- not the other way around. Sadly finding that seeking ability isn't easy to do.

    The Post with robot doctors
I had a guy call in yesterday and ask for some information on ordering a product. He told me a little bit about what they would be using our products for. He said they were looking for compatibility with their systems they were setting up. Then he said it was a robot doctor.

    Let me repeat that..

    A ROBOT DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!

    How fucking awesome is that!?!?

Imagine it now. This guy is sitting in a lab builiding robot doctors. For what, who knows? Maybe he is planning world domination. Or maybe he is an organ harvester and this is the easiest way to take unsuspecting people's organs. Or maybe in some politically definat way he is trying to improve the US health system by creating robots that will just do the surgery and you pay them in like oil and batteries or something.

If it's world domination though it's sad- because I could've done something to stop him and everyone will be turned into robot doctors.

On second thought maybe I need to give my imagination a rest.

    The Post with Today
Man was it a lot more pleasant to be out walking around and running today.

This was the kind of day I love- mid 80's nice breeze. It's why we have summer as far as I'm concerned. Tonight will finish off I think with an ice cold Pabst on the back porch.

In fact I know it will.

I saw something yesterday that really made me kind of sad. There was a bad accident on the road I travel to work two days ago. This 17 year old high school kid died in it.. I'm assuming he was driving too fast and missed the turn.

As I passed the spot where it happened I saw people had put flowers around the pole and the story was taped to it in rememberence of him. What made it sad was the group of 4 high school kids gathered around it reading, hugging, and crying.

    Just way to sad.

The Post with one of Those Days
You know what life is like- driving in a car.

As long as the road is straight we can open up the throttle and see how fast we can get to our destination.

Every once in a while the road turns, sometimes sharply, sometimes gradually. Some people are on a road that turns more often than others roads turn. No big deal.

Along the way there are exit and entrance ramps. We exit when we turn the big ages....16 signifies independence....18 signifies early adulthood....21 signifies full blown adult.

Some of us miss our off-ramps and need to circle back which takes time.

Some of us get pursued by things- things we know are important exits in our lives but we just can't seem to find it.

In that instance it becomes like looking out your passenger side mirror. In the mirror it looks in the distance but it is closer than it appears.

Some of us get to our destination quicker than others.

Some of us get lost along the way and need to pull over to figure out the way back to where we are. The worst of us keep going in the wrong direction hoping eventually they'll find their way back instead of taking the easy way back.

And sometimes it feels like your not actually in the car but walking to yuor destination while everyone else is driving past. You can put out your thumb to try and hitch a ride to the destination but some refuse to stop and help. Some people refuse to put out the thumb.

    Where do you fit in?

The Post with me reviewing Brad Paisley's new album
So it took a little longer than I thought it would, but better late than never right?

Brad Paisley is a breath of fresh air in the stale world of country music. While some are pulling up their country roots for a pop sound, and others are trying too hard to be different that they sacrifice quality- Paisley plucks along as this wonderful bridge between country lyricists of old mixed with the guitar playing of Mark Knopfler. He has a wicked sense of humor that he is very good writing with (not easy to do) and crafts these songs about the battle between adulthood and adolescense. His new album entitled 5th Gear is just that. Many of the songs deal with being closer to adulthood than anything else and his guitar playing is at its rip roarin' best. There are not many ballads on this album as he eschews them for up-tempo party songs. Let's go throught he CD, ambitiously, track by track, lyrics included.

All I Wanted Was a Car- Our first example of adulthood catching up to us as we look back on all the things we wanted grwoing up through our lives. We start wanting material things like a car but in the end we get that family and that becomes our reason. Not the strongest single on the CD and probably not the one I'd have kicked the CD off with.

Ticks- Just a really fun song to listen to. The first thing that catches you is the guitar playing which has a foot-stomping feel to it. It's a song you've heard numerous times with a guy hitting on a girl in the bar but it comes off as campy because of the sheer cheesiness of the pick-up line and the fact that you can hear Brad is really having fun with the lyric. In the second verse where in a lot of ways his guitar playing is dueting with his voice it really comes alive.

Online- Next Brad takes on the internet crowd. The joke always is about meeting people online that noone is who they say they are. Paisley runs with that idea in this song creating an alter ego and then singing the song about what they are and what they profess to be. I've read people find it mean-spirited but I'd imagine there is some truth to the song. The video is really funny for this as well with all the cameos. Again really good guitar playing elevates this song.

Letter to Me- Our first slow song. A song about being able to go back in time and tell yourself in high school to not get so hung up on all the little things like lost love. Also not blowing not
school. We reach a point in our lives where we can look back and say "What the hell was I upset about." I think from time to time we need to be reminded that thigns will move forward no matter how bleak the present currently looks. It's basically him telling the past him to be smarter about a lot of things cause it would make it easier- if only that was possible.

I'm Still A Guy- Just a really fun song to listen to and eventually sing a long with. Putting the opposite views of women versus men "You see a deer you see Bambi, I see antlers up on the wall" isn't a new idea but it's never been done with vigor like this. Brad's playing is really good here again and they drop in some carnival style music during the last chorus and second grade piano recital stuff to amp up the female feel. It all works and you get a nice little slice of music here.

Some Mistakes- A song about how we never learn from mistakes. Is it becasue we just don't learn or because it is so much fun making the mistake. Why do people keep falling in love with the same person? Why does someoen fall for the wrong person, then just gradually get crazier. In the song the guy is saying we fooled around once- let's just keep doing it and see what comes of it. Love ain't always planned- sometimes we fall into it.

It Did- Back into the ballad realm. A simple, sweet love song following a guy every step of the way as he date, marries, and eventually has a child with this woman. He keeps telling himself this is the best it will be and it keeps getting better. Again attackign the acceptance of adulthood theme. We'll revisit this idea later.

Mr. Policeman- The best thing about this song is- you could tweak it a little and it sounds like a Carl Perkins song from 40 years ago. It would be in place totally back in the olden days. Brad writes one song like this an album where the story is secondary to the ability he gives himself to just amp it up and rip out some guitar solos. Paisley is really not known as a great guitar player outside of country but I'd put him right up there with some other great ones in other genres right now. The song is funny to listen to as well as he goads a cop into chasing him by car, and by foot telling him to - head on back to Krispy Kreme. Love this song, wish I could play guitar like this. Fast paced song and probably best to not be driving while you listen to it.

If Love was a Plane- An extended metaphor of a song comparing love and marriage to boarding a plane. Really if we always knew things wouldn't work would we get involved. If someone told you before you got married that there was a 40% chance it wouldn't last would you gamble on it. Now compare that to the plane- if someone gave you the same odds that you were going down- would you get on? Yet we keep coming back time after time to love. Kind of sweet in a way.

Oh Love (featuring Carrie Underwood)- Last album Brad sang a song about Alcohol from the alcohol's point of view. Here is a song in a similar vein but sang from a third person point of view. It talks about all the things love can do. It sounds a lot like that Bible verse. Carrie is such a great singer and her and Brad match each other pretty well during this song.

Better Than This- We go ripping back into the uptempo stuff. A bunch of guys sitting around the fire thinking things are as good as they can be. Then one stands up and says all these things that would make the situation much better- busloads of women, Kiebalsa, a keg, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson taking requests. Much of the same themes as the earlier song but sung more from a partying aspect. I would imagine he wrote these two songs hand in hand thinking there was enough material to mine. I kind of hope he releases this single off the album.

With You, Without You- Getting over someone is extremely hard to do. This song taps into that. The guy is telling the girl no matter where you are I can be in love with you, without you. I don't need you to come back or anything because I can just pretend you never left. It's kind of a depressing thought but one that happens numerous times as men and women try to get over people thinking it will never end. Maybe they need ot write a letter to themselves. :)

Bigger Fish to Fry- This song irritates me- not musically or lyrically or anything. But becasue this is something I always used to tell people from junior high school on up and it pisses me off I never thought to write a song about it. For all the bad things I do, all the hell I raise- I'll sneak past in the end becasue the devil has so many other people he needs to make sure get there. What makes this song is the appearences by Little Jimmy Dickens, Vince Gill, etc as The Kung Pao Buckaroos singing harmony in the background. Paisley loves to bring in legendary country stars as sort of an homage to them. PLus we get a joke in the middle of the third chorus- Seriously.

When We All Get to Heaven- Some might not like this song based on their feelings of religion but it is a staple of Paisley's labums to work in a song that has some kind of religious overtone. This is just something that would work as a hymn (might've been) just saying about how great it will be when we all reach our second destination.

Throttleneck- An instrumental piece to close. It isn't as strong as some of his previous ones but it is still a good representation of his guitar skills.

More than anything this album seems to signify a change for Paisley. He relishes the role he already has created as being the wittiest writer in Nashville and working melodies around his power licks. This album seems to be moving closer towards adulthood which might turn some off. Me I'm right there with him so as always I feel his music deeply.

While some acts are out there getting credit for changing country sound there are other, much better acts like Paisley doing the same things but not completely trying to run from his country roots. That in and of itself is commendable.

An A- album. Not as strong to me as Time Well Wasted but slightly better than Mud on the Tires

The Post with a short entry
I promise the Brad Paisley CD review is coming. I planned on it for yesterday but I wasn't able to do it then and I wasn't bale to kick it up for today. On Thursday though it will be ready to go. Tomorrow no post because it's the 4th and I doubt I'll get online much.

Just a short thing for the holiday though. Be safe, don't drink too much, and don't blow your hands off with fireworks.

Also if you're going out to see a movie skip Transformers and go see Live Free or Die Hard. It is massively hardcore badass, and despite the turning John McClane from a regular guy hero into Superman it works in every way.

    That's the one to see.
