The Post with me beyond excited
I was going to post a track by track review of the new Brad Paisley but that will have to wait.

The album is great- don't get me wrong- but something else has my attention right now.

See tonight I'll go the gym like normal but then.......

    Yes Then.....

    Oh by God then.....

Bruce Willis is back as John McClaine in.....

    LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD

Words can't begin to describe how excited I am. Well maybe "Yippie-ki-yay- Motherfucker" would do it but that's cliche...

Enjoy the trailer (love the use of "Ode to Joy")

The Post with a preview of tonight
Tonight is the NBA Draft- or as I like to call it- the Sixers chance to rope me back into the fold. I've been a Sixers fan for a long time. Charles Barkley was my favorite player ever. I was with them every step fo the way during the NBA Finals run a few years back.

However a series of bad moves by Billy King- trading for Chris Webber, signing unproven rookies to huge deals, signing againg veterans to huge deals put them on my back burner.

This past season though they finally did the one thing I thought I'd never see- traded Allen Inverson. When the talks started people thought- there was no way they were going to get anything decent for him. Turns out they got back a really good point guard in Andre Miller and 2 first round picks. That was shocking. It was even more shocking considering King said he had a three year plan to turn the Sixers around and it actually seems to be coming to fruition.

Tonight is a big night for him. It's a fairly deep draft. They have the 12th, 21st, and 30th picks in the first round, and the 38th pick in the second round. They should be able to add some decent players to help round out some depth on their team. That means they play about the same level as last year while they let guys develop. Next season then Webber's contract comes off their books and they have the ability to go out in the free agent market and bring in some big talent (Gilbert arenas, Elton Brand, Tim Duncan, etc will be free agents).

The big step comes tonight though. He got the trade done and it was a good one. Now he needs to turn one of those picks into a high profile talent. Rumor is he might package two picks for a higher pick and high profile talent. They need a forward who can be a body and score. I'm guessing Al Thonton, unless they can trade up to get Jeff Greeen or something.

Bilyl King- I'm begging you, despite your propensity for it, please do not screw this one up.

The Post with some thoughts on Chris Benoit
I wrote this for a site I help out with.----Back tomorrow

The plan for me last night was to sit down at 8 pm to watch Monday Night Raw and report on the site about the fake funeral service for the demise of the Mr. McMahon character. Those plans changed around 6 pm last night though. It was then that I got the call saying Chris Benoit and his family were found dead. Initially I was sad but I didn’t know the storm that was brewing up ahead.

I sat down and started to watch last night with Vince in the center of the ring explaining why the arena was empty and saying what they planned on doing for the next three hours. We then moved through a retrospective of the career of Chris Benoit that culiminated wth a replaying of the excellent triple threat match from Wrestlemania XX.

It was about an hour into the show that reports started circulating that the belief was Benoit himself had killed wife Nancy and son Daniel before taking his own life. As reports filtered in and I poured through them last night and this morning a reality started to form about what had happened.

In any form of entertainment we get attached to certain performers. Be it a singer, actor, sports star, etc we all latch on to one as being our person- the one we point to as saying “That is the way to do it.” For lots of wrestling fans Chris Benoit was that guy. He wasn’t flashy, he couldn’t talk well on the microphone, but between the ropes he could tell one hell of a story and draw you into a match. The aforementioned Wrestlemania XX match was about as great a story as you will see- it’s my favorite Wrestlemania match of all time based on what it represented. Even though we feel close to them as performers- we never really get to know them as people although we feel like we do. Sadly this was a reminder of that. The guy who so many said was quiet, and introverted in many ways is seen in a different context now based on those characteristics.

The events of the past 24 hours have left wrestling fans confused, sad, hurt, and angry. There are many questions being floated around as well. What drove Benoit to do this? What was the final snapping point? Was it steroid related? Was it something being planned for a while or something done on an impulse? Plenty of questions and unfortunately not all will be answered.

None of this changes the fact that this is a sad day.

Sad for the lives that were lost. There are few things more heartbreaking than a young kid losing their life prematurely. That might be the most tragic thing in all this.

Sad for the families that lost loved ones.

Sad for friends of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel. During Raw last night wrestlers offered thoughts on Chris Benoit. Rumor is one of them received some alarming text messages from Benoit in the hours leading up to all of this. When anything happens to a friend our natural human reaction is to think, “I could’ve prevented it.” Imagine living with that feeling. Chavo Guerrero spoke about being invited into the home of Chris and staying with him days before this all happened. He possibly was the last one outside of the Benoit family to see any of them alive. Imagine the load he has to now carry.

The big question is: where do people go from here- especially the WWE? If it is found that steroids were to be blamed then they will face that storm. They might face it anyway, but it will be worse if there is a causal link.

There is still the possibility that with the advent of depression and other problems related to concussions being researched this is a product of years of physical abuse of his head. That would open up a huge new batch of problems for the WWE.

I think the most important thing they need to do is expand the Wellness Policy to include psychiatric exams for their wrestlers. Maybe if they can get to the root of some of these issues they can help head them off.

There has been a lot of talk recently about how this affects the legacy of Chris Benoit. I was a huge WCW fan back in the day so I have many fond memories of watching Chris Benoit matches. Nothing to me changes the fact that he was one of the best wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring. If the story holds true about him being behind this though- Benoit the man takes a major hit in my mind. Some may not be able to seperate the two so they will bleed together. That’s fine too.

As I spent last night thinking that the worst, knowing in my heart what the reports would probably say, and hoping they wouldn’t I had all these questions running through my mind. Questions that we don’t have answers to yet. Questions we might never have answers to. All that I can say with certianty is I feel a deep sadness for the families of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel. And I hope for once a wrestler’s death and actions leads to some kind of change for the better.

The Post with me feeling lethargic today
"Blah" would be the best way to describe how I feel right now. Just like I'd rather be sleeping more than anything.

Friday night I bought the new Brad Paisley cd and it was as awesome as I imagined it being. I've listened to it straight through probably 5 times this weekend. Just good stuff all around. Saw 1408 as well. Really good old style horror/thriller. Plus John Cusack is one of my favorites so seeing him rock the casbah is always good.

Saturday was the big Flip Flop Tour for Kenny Chesney. The day could not have been better weather wise as it was about 80 degrees and breezy. We got down there around 12 and then drank beer and cooked out all afternoon. I ate like 4 or 5 cheeseburgers- I lost count. Plus I had some Doritos on top of it so the diet waved bye bye. We then went in the venue and saw the concert. Pat Green was good what I saw of him. Sara Evans is amazingly hot and she can sing real well too so she was good. Sugarland was good and they tore it up while they were there. Brooks and Dunn were their usual awesome selves. Kenny Chesney was pretty good but I had two little problems with his set. He sang one song that was prior to 2002. Also the sound system sucked for him. It was passable all day long for being as far away as we were but they were all audible. For parts of Chesney's set all you heard was music and not him singing. Him and Uncle Kracker covered, "Cowboy" but noone had any idea of the song becasue you couldn't hear it.

There was a fight near us during Brooks and Dunn's set which was awesome. It would've been more awesome if I could've gotten in there and thrown some punches. I would imagine it was a case of people having too much to drink and being stupid- a common problem for people who drink. PLus side as well there were a couple of cute girls in front of us so that helped things along during the day.

I eventually got home, after stopping at Wal-Mart around like 1:40. It took a little bit of time to fall asleep then so I got to bed around 2:20. Woke up Sunday morning at about 9:15....Did all of nothing for the morning. Decided to go swimming and then went to my softball game. I think that was the combination that did me in. I came home and showered and ate (more cheeseburgers :) ) and then just crashed all night with the air conditioner blaring- that didn't help either.

Entourage was awesome last night BTW. I fell asleep around 10:45- watching "She's the Man" and woke up around 7:00 this morning...Still though I feel tired. A normal person would go home tonight shower, and then sleep til morning but I need to hit the gym and then watch Raw so it will be an 11 pm night tonight. I walked a little bit at lunch today so that woke me up but maybe I should've taken the nap. Oh well.

The Post with some more about my musical genre
Over the years I've always been asked as to why I like country music. The simple answer is it's real life music, but there are deeper things than that.

Imagine yourself having a problem, or just being really excited- country music is that person that you share it with. If you're feeling down country music is the one that saddles up next to you at the bar and has a beer with you discussing the things they've gone through that mirror what you've gone through.

It's not always sad- there's an Eric Church song out right now called, "Guys Like Me" that I always find myself singing along to because for the most part it feels like it is talking about me.

Of course then there are some sad songs that you might notice at first but when you hear the lyrics it sucker punches you. And it's not that its sad but it is something you are living through or know what the protagonist of the song is going through. Craig Morgan's new song "Tough" is one of those songs. I wasn't ready for that when I finally listened to the lyrics and paid attention. But there is hope in it all and a reminder to me about what is important in my life right now.

Then of course there are just artists you get into. Brad Paisley's new album "5th Gear" came out Tuesday and I've been anxiously waiting for tonight so I can get it. This is probably the most excited I've been for an album release ever becasue it's hitting a point in my life where I totally get what Paisley's songs are about- Trying to stop the move from adolescense to adulthood. Believe me I know the feeling fo trying to outrun that.

It is comforting, friendly music- a safe place to land

    The Post with proper etiquette
Short post today but there is something that needs to be covered. I've seen it happena lot lately so I think some guys need refresher courses on bathroom etiquette.

1.) Just becasue a door to the bathroom opens doesn't mean you have to turn to see who walked in. Seriously- focus on the task at hand and don't be concerned with the distractions. When you turn it causes the stream to stray from its destined course.

2.) There is to be no talking while theall the people involved are at the urinals. Eyes straight ahead, mouths closed. Once a person moves away from the urinals to wash up then the discussion may resume. Talking between urinal guys whil talking with the guy at the sink can be done at your own discretion.

3.) Eyes straight ahead at the urinal. You can talk or do other things while looking straight ahead- although talking is entirley frowned upon.

4.) There is no need to grunt while you piss. If it is that bad- go see a doctor about getting your prostate checked.

5.) If you need to prop yourself against the wall or hold yourself up with one hand while you piss, you should go in the stall and sit down to pee. Stand upright for god's sake- you're getting to close to my space when you are leaning and turning it into an aerobic event.

6.) Stay within the parameters of your urinal. This isn't pissing for distance. The object is not to stand 5 feet from the urinal and aim upward to arc the stream into the urinal. Those little panels are there so people next to you don't have to be exposed to your junk.

In conclusion- stay inside the marked off area, stand upright, and keep your eyes straight talking only at approved designated times.

Together we can make this happen.

The Post with the Nut Jobs
    Britney Spears is pissed:

No People aren't taking illicit photos of her snatch but rather the LA morning show is having some fun at her expense

    http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0618071mjshow1.html

It's amazing how fast she crashed into the wall and her career tailspun. I mean 7 years ago she was the hottest celebrity female. She was dressing as a school girl, and a busty astronaut and releasing songs where she was basically saying, "Hey fuck me!"

Then she makes out with Madonna.

Then she starts to fall backwards. Then she marries K-Fed and has two kids.

Then they get divorced and she goes insane. Seriously noone thought K-Fed would be the most sane looking person of the two months afterwards.

Now she is due for the big comeback where people rediscover her hotness. It's coming.

The Post with an article on terrorism
Bruce Schneier wrote this piece on his website about terrorism and security in general.

    http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2007/06/portrait_of_the.html

    Couple things-

He conveniently leaves out the other plan that seemed completely stupid and hair-brained-the one where like 20 guys hijack planes with box cutters and fly planes that are way bigger than than they were trained to fly into buildings killing thousands of people. Outside of that though I pretty much agree with him.

The Fort Dix thing always struck me as odd. I mean there were six of those guys. We're they really thinking they were going to be able to take down the Fort with their limited gun power?

I think often though the government sees this situations as opportunities. It gives them the ammunition needed to keep Americans living under a cloud of manufactured fear. I disagree with him though when he kind of thinks the governement handles the squashing of this threats incorrectly. They have to take people into custody, especially considering the word that they knew about the 9/11 attacks before they occurred, and did nothign to stop them.

Where they go overboard is in blowing up the facts and manufacturing a bigger issue or problem than what was there in the first place. It creates paranoia, and worry. Really who needs that.

The Post with Seattle shunning Orville Reddenbacher
I remember in college one year my room was right across the hall from the floor microwave. This microwave was all messed up and there was no way to properly cook in the thing. This one kid kept burning popcorn in it, eventually the microwave got broken. What does all this have to do with today's post...Seattle is mad as hell and they are taking it out on Act, Jippy Pop, and old Reddenbacher himself.

The Post about the Sopranos finale
People are going nuts in the Internet world about the Sopranos finale. Was it a genius, artistic ending? Was it a copout from a creator who had no idea how to finish the show so he cut to black? There are the questions that remain

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/06/12/tv.sopranos.ending.ap/index.html

I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. On one hand I felt Tony probably saw Meadow walk into the diner and then was shot in the side of the head by the guy who walked into the bathroom minutes earlier. During the first episode of the season Tony and Bobby were talking about dying and they said you probably never see it coming- everything just goes black. So there is that.

It could've just been one last final insight into the psyche of Tony. We ha da show that for years showed us his life. In those final moments we were taken into the life of a mob boss. He was watching everyone in the bar closely. He was wondering if his wife and kids would get there safely. I would imagine if you are a guy who spends his life having people killed and being a goon this is a constant concern. Once Meadow came in everyone was together so for this time there were no problems.

However, you view it- The Sopranos was a great show- not as great as people made it out to be- but it was great. They went out the way David Chase wanted it to go out- Kudos for that!!

The Post with more about the sex story from months ago
A few months ago I posted the story of Genarlow Wilson, the teenager from Georgia that got a BJ from a 15 year old a few years ago and was arrested later thanks to some antiquated law. The kid was a football standout and had his whole life ripped from him for making a mistake, one that wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been- but would've gotten him less of a sentence.

They fianlly threw out his sentence but then the Georgia DA stepped in and blocked the appeal, extending the stay. It is sad and these Georgia good ole boys need to stop the pissing match and free the kid.

The Post with some school insanity
For years military recruiters have visited high schools and given kids that want to "be all they can be" or whatnot the information to enlist in the military.

In Scotland however though they are against this and a group of teahcers have banded together trying to stop these visits.

Apparently they feel the only people allowed to have guns on them in the schools are students

    Their perogative I guess:

The Post with some stuff from this past weekend
First the good- Knocked Up is absolutely hilarious. It's hard to judge where it ranks with stuff like Anchorman and 40 Year Old Virign until I see it multiple times but I have a feeling it might be better than like Old School and maybe even Wedding Crashers. It was almost non-stop laughs, and there were some really good like make your sides hurt laughs.

Saturday then I finally got my air conditioner in the window in my room. Thank god. Sleeping Saturday night was so much more comfortable than in the previous 2 nights. Also Saturday I went to Montana West with some friends to celebrate a birthday, that's where the weekend turned slightly but I still had some good things in during the night.

First we'll stick with the good. I dry humped the bear statues in town. There are pictures as well. I'm so proud of myself. I'm like that old Wade Hayes song, "Old Enough to Know Better, but I'm still to young to care." Also I ate at the Dump for the first time in years. Although the host looked like a drugged out Jesus, and I'm pretty sure the waitress was doing lines in the back it was good.

Now the bad. The get a girl's phone number mission failed miserably. Kind of the less said the better. I watched a guy just pull off this move that I so badly want to be able to do but just can't pull off. Soon though I'll be able to, and all will be healed.

Sunday then we lost our last hockey game of the year and then we played softball in the rain and lost by a run in a rain-shortened game. I think the guy who runs it was kind of ticked that me and another guy decided to call the game but it was totally necessary. The base lines and behind home plate were completely mud. The one guy swung and the bat slipped out of his hands and went flying over the third baseman's head into left field. That's a sign that it is time to stop.

It got a little better Sunday night becasue The Sopranos and Entourage were completely blow-a-way shows but still the cloud of failure hung over the weekend. So another battle entered and lost. It's like my Literati skills- enter and lose constantly.

It will change though- don't worry.
